Poor villagers can't afford expensive copies and pens, so the children use a wooden plank and ink to write on. After every 2 classes, they flock out of the school to the nearest stream and clean their slates for the next classes. The dedication is palpable, as the children walk out of the school in disciplined queues or group, but never bunk their classes and run home, which might be just next door.

It is also heartening to see that in spite of the hardships of trekking to schools far away and lack of money, yet, girls are encouraged to go to school.
